Diogo – 33, Brussels

Diogo

Hi, my name is Diogo, I’m 33 and I’m from Brazil, but I live in Brussels and I’m a biologist, teacher and rugby player.

I’m a strong, playful and cuddly bear.

For me, being a bear means feeling good about yourself without having to conform to beauty standards.

I decided to run for Mister Bear Belgium because, as a Brazilian immigrant, I want to represent Belgium’s diversity.

If I’m elected Mister Bear Belgium, my project will be to organize board games and bear parties to raise money for the Casa 1 non-profit organization, which takes in young people aged 18 to 25 who have been expelled from their homes by their families because of their sexual orientation in Brazil.

I invite you to vote for me and support me in this adventure because I’ve been living in Belgium for 10 years and I feel as much Belgian as Brazilian today, and I want to represent Belgium as Mr Bear.

Giovanni – 39, Yvoir

Giovanni

Hi, my name is Giovanni and I’m 39 years old. I live in Wallonia, in Yvoir, a village between Namur and Dinant. I’m a florist with a passion for nature and plants. Walking, cycling and flea markets are my hobbies.

I’m a chubby bear, spontaneous, smiling and always up for the unexpected. I love discovering new places with a twist.

For me, being a bear means embracing my body with pride, seeing it as a reassuring, soft and safe cocoon, a body that we embrace as it is.

I decided to run for the Mister Bear Belgium election because, by joining this community, I’ve finally found a space that suits me, where I can blossom as a male bear.

My project if I’m elected Mister Bear Belgium will be to promote wedding, love in our own image, sincere, tender and responsible.

I invite you to vote for me and support me in this adventure because I want to carry a message of love, acceptance and celebration.

Joshua – 27, Leuven

Joshua

Hi everyone! I’m Josh, I’m 27 years old and I’m from Leuven. A little about myself: I have experience in diversity, equality, and inclusion, I love karaoke, and I’m a gamer. I am an outspoken and passionate bear, but I can also be cheeky.

To me, being a bear means being confident and caring about others. Being a bear does not mean being hairy and “big and in charge,” but someone who is especially respectful of others and encourages everyone to be their authentic selves.

I decided to run for Mister Bear Belgium because I want to support anyone who feels displaced in the world and show that you don’t have to change yourself to find community.

My project if I am elected Mister Bear Belgium is to promote inclusion and raise awareness about drug abuse. There have been a few drug-related deaths in our community recently and action needs to be taken.

Therefore, I invite you to vote for me and support me in this adventure, because I understand how easy it is to fall victim to societal norms and peer pressure. Together we can make a difference.

Matthieu – 36, Mouscron

Matthieu

Hello everyone, my name is Matthieu, I’m 36 years old. I live in Mouscron. I work in logistics. I love to bake and especially to eat.

I’m a bear who likes to give hugs, make others laugh with my infectious laugh and help them. For me, being a bear means valuing our community, being a Care Bear and being a good listener.

I decided to run for Mister Bear Belgium because I see myself in this community.

My project if I’m elected Mister Bear Belgium will be to promote our partners and sponsors at a grandiose event. Get them involved in the event, not as spectators but as extras. Ahah

I invite you to vote for me and support me in this adventure because I’m someone who smiles, invests and I give you a smile. Kisses

Pavel – 33, Liège

Pavel

Hi, let me introduce myself: My name is Pavel, I’m 33 and I’m from Liège.

I’m an urban development consultant. Outside work, I like rollerblading, cooking and dancing… as long as the music’s good!

I define myself as a queer bear, or at least a committed one, since I’ve been involved in associations for 15 years, notably for LGBTQIA+ rights.

For me, being a bear goes beyond whether or not you have hair or a paunch, or how old you are. It’s about knowing how to be open and kind, but also strong and protective. It’s knowing what it means to feel rejected, even within the gay community, and it leads us to build fair and happy places for everyone.

I’m running for Mister Bear Belgium today to put my commitment at the service of our community. I want to promote an image of proud, supportive and involved bears. Bears who put their strength and stability at the service of people in need – especially lesbian, queer, trans, intersex and racialized people. Because even today, being gay and fat, old or hairy is political, and even if we sometimes forget it, there’s strength in numbers.

If elected, I’ll create a Carebears collective: volunteer bears trained to support LGBTQIA+ individuals and groups in need. We can be called on to lend a hand at a venue or event, to provide security in a caring way, or simply to listen to someone in distress.

I invite you to vote for me and support me, because there’s nothing more comforting than a teddy bear, and nothing more powerful than a grizzly bear who wants to protect his family. And me… I intend to do both =)

Wouter – 43, Brussels

Wouter

Hello, my name is Wouter, I’m 43 and I live in vibrant Brussels. I’m an epicurean with a heart for people, and I believe in the power of a smile, a good conversation and a warm hug.

I’m a cuddly, naughty bear with a heart this big and a beard that stings just right. A little cuddly, a little macho, always true.

For me, being a bear means accepting yourself as you are. Big, hairy, sensitive, strong – all at once. It’s about living with enthusiasm and inspiring others to do the same.

Being a bear also means caring for others. It’s about carrying tenderness, warmth and a rebellious streak. It’s about being proud of your body, your age and your experience.

I’m running for Mister Bear Belgium because I want to mean something. Not just with my smile, but with a message that counts.

I want to use this visibility to talk about a serious issue: suicide prevention in our community, and everywhere. Too many people feel alone. We can change that.

As Mr. Bear, I want to organize meetings, share stories and, above all, make people feel that no one is alone. Together, we can really make a difference.

I invite you to vote for me and follow me on this adventure full of fur, human warmth and unconditional love. Because a world with more bears is a world that feels good.
